Prepare for Emergencies Ahead of Time
Emergencies and calamities are events we can’t foresee that is why it is important that we are able to prepare for them in its eventuality. There is no better way to prepare for any disaster or calamity by being prepared ahead of time and all the time. So how do we go about being prepared? Find out here.
1. Stock up on canned and instant food items. Try to stock up on canned goods and instant food items in your cupboards or pantry. It is important that you stock them up in dry places to avoid contamination and tarnishing. Canned goods like pork and beans and Spam would be great to store. Instant meals like oatmeal and noodles can also be stocked up as they have longer shelf lives than other instant food items. It would be best to use online coupons or promotion codes for this purpose since you can best buy in bulk when you have them.
2. Make sure you have enough emergency lights and batteries on hand. It is important that you are able to keep some important appliances such as your radio and emergency lights ready and all charged up. There are also handy and portable cooking ranges, such as those used by campers and mountaineers which you can use in your house. These things come in handy most especially when there is massive power failure.
3. Keep warm clothes, blankets and spare clothes within reach. It is important that you are able to pack some warm clothes and blankets in the event of a bad storm or hurricane. It is important that the children are kept warm and dry at all times to prevent hypothermia and other cold-induced diseases.
4. Have your first aid kit and medicines handy. Make sure that you have a full first aid kit in handy available any time. Stock up on Paracetamol, bandages, cold medicine, pain relievers, etc. and make sure that they are all new and not expired.
